save your list as a pls or m3u file and then you can reload it or edit it anyway you like. The session.rtb file is merely a way of storing the addresses and states from one session to the next.

just have a form setup that posts to a playlist generator. Simply pass the elements of the form right out to the playlist.

You will have to script all this in PERL or PHP or something.

no I am saying that you should give up. Icecast will only (as far as I know) accept authentication information via the HTTP Authentication scheme.

The method I pointed out above was for Steamcast to Steamcast relays or Steamcast to Icecast2 relays.

no, icecast servers do not support the parameterized username and password capabilities steamcast can.

ah ok I see the problem now. Steamcast expects that the source is going to send meta data under a mozilla user-agent. I'll work on a fix for the next release.
