it's not a trivial task for most. If I did it, it would probably take me a couple hours to write something I could release. i'd have to parse the xml, build in some caching, and think about any potential security concerns. i don't happen to have a couple hours available atm. If you look for somethin...

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO THEM.

you could probably write a script to parse the log info for use in a database. what did you have in mind?

It's technically beta, but I've run it for months at a time without issue. That said, it's probably not thoroughly tested with ever OS out there. If your service has concerns, it could merely be due to the beta label. Or it could be because they personally experienced an issue on their server. Beats...

many use the shoutcast sc_trans program available for linux. visit the shoutcast download area to find it. there is http://oddsock.org which has a dsp that works in winamp, foobar, and also has a stand alone version. The source has been released, so it's possible to compile it for linux. there is al...

I'm having a problem I always have with flash players. After a certain period of time, the browser either locks up or crashes. It's probably related to how much cache/buffer space flash is allowed to have, and when it's filled, bonk. In my tests with a 128kbps mp3 steamcast feed, I get a little over...

test it right now. first impression. Good! Seems to work great, although I've only run it for about 10 minutes so far. I would personally make some superficial changes. Mainly to make it more obvious to start it, perhaps through a big play button in the middle. It wasn't obvious how to start it at f...

I don't actually consider stream ripping illegal, any more than my vcr or tivo are illegal. If I want to hear a broadcast, but will be sleeping at the time, or am otherwise occupied, I can stream rip it to hear it later. It's called fair use. That said, I will still cross fade, talk over, and other ...

the reason for setting it to localhost is precisely so it's unavailable for directly listening on the internet. it has a relay on the same server that is open to the internet that people can listen on. the idea here is that there are two mounts hidden. call one a studio mount, and the other a dj mou...

ServIP=127.0.0.1 and icecast

hey Jay, can you tell I've been testing a lot lately? This is only tested on freebsd so far, but when I set ServIP to 127.0.0.1, I can log in from a remote location using a shoutcast type login, but not a icecast2 type login. commenting out the ServIP results in it working. I do not see the failed c...
