I'm wondering if Jay might give us an indication about when the next release might happen. On my redhat enterprise 3 server, backup mounts aren't working. OK on redhat 7.3 that I previously had. I'm curious to see if they will work correctly with the next version. Well, I'm hoping! Would a small don...

have you adjusted the meta interval? it sounds like you're connection between your stream source and the stream server isn't keeping a good connection. are you running other things on the computer at the same time? Is your local network busy? How much upstream bandwidth does your web host allow? Are...

I was thinking I might write a control panel to autocreate the config file. I was mainly thinking of doing that to eliminate typo issues and such so I can quickly experiment with setting changes. Some of the other stuff you want is already there. Like kick/ban. Have you been through the existing adm...

Try running it as root user. I had some issues with non root. I never fully explored it, but i thought I'd make that suggestion.

oddcast doesn't include lame_enc. it's a separate download. all the oddcast installer does is prompt your browser to find it from a separate website. it needs to be installed in the right folder. I don't recall which one at the moment, but putting it in winamp and winamp\plugins should cover you.

you can use oddcast with steamcast just fine. where it says to pick server type, you can choose either shoutcast or icecast. the rest should be obvious.

I've run 3 instances of steamcast, 3 different configs, no problem. Were you careful to make sure you're using a different port for each one?

Maybe you could post your config files, with the passwords fuzzed out. I couldn't offer any more advice without them.

Couldn't you just write your own custom .pls, serve it from a standard web host, and have your own intro, stream, backup file? You'd need your listeners to connect via your .pls instead of steamcasts. Jay, would a user defined playlist be an easier implementation? The intro/outro files be served by ...

The most likely reason is that some people do not have fast enough connections, or fast enough computers to get your stream. Can you lower your stream rate? (I'm not familiar with nsv tools specifically, but the issue of buffering is independent of that).

I'm left with wondering what a reasonable maximum bandwidth could be expected on a modern server. If you have a 1000 Mbps ethernet card, could one expect over 7,000 128kbps listeners tuning in without a problem? I certainly wouldn't expect it. I wonder if there's a site or forum that discusses this ...

Doesn't shoutcast actually only recognize 1,000 possible listeners from each server? It seems to me if you put in 20,000, your maximum on shoutcast will only show 1,000. You need to cluster other servers to get that number higher. If I've got that straight, it says to me that one shouldn't expect to...
