Need help setting up s shoutcast server on a linux machine.

Post by double-f »

I have a sc_serv running an a linux machine, with bunch of mp3 residing in the subdirectory out of the server. I want them to be played when user connects to the server, but it does not. ICY401 Service unavailable.
How do i create the playlist? I just have the mp3s, so maybe that's the problem.

the shoutcast server cannot work alone, you have to have a source which plays the music.

Winamp is the normal source for music to a shoutcast server, however if you are wanting to stay *nix based you can try dj in a box at www.djiab.org

You might want to try ices from www.icecast.org. It will do what you want and streams to shoutcast servers..
