Icecast Directory Problem?

Post by djclae »

I'm not sure what this is, but I can't seem to find my Steamcast server or others' Steamcast servers on xiph.org anymore. Did they block out Steamcast or am I just being paranoid?

Looks like something funny in the new version, which distribution are you using?

0.9.72. I just noticed it since after I upgraded. Hope you can fix it soon. Listing in both is one of the great benefits of Steamcast. Thanks.

Is the patch released, or will we have to wait for the next version? I tried redownloading and installing just the steamcast program itself (didn't want to lose my config) later in the day yesterday and still no luck showing on Icecast. Thank you.

I had initially intended that but ran into other problems when fixing this one. I have also added some performance improvements. If all goes well I will release what I have tommorrow.

One biggie was FreeBSD appearently was extremely unstable, so 0.9.3 fixes that problem hopefully.

Talk about service, Jay. You're on the ball. Have you addressed that deal we were discussing with relaying and the metaint settings in Shoutcast?

I wanted to have the higher interval, so right now I have Steamcast relaying a Shoutcast server with the 8192 compatible interval, and that server is relaying the main one, set to 32768 and that's working out just fine. I suppose it probably wouldn't matter if they were all Steamcast servers.

I wonder what would happen if I had a huge chain of Shoutcast, Icecast, and whatever the other one is called servers all relaying to the next how it would come out on the other side, and how much delay there would be on good servers.

Just for everyone's information. You can relay streams with metaints of
8192 or 16384 (the default meta int of Steamcast)
