same way you do with shoutcast. same settings and all. in nsvcap connect to the shoutcast host and point it to steamcast instead

Steamcast is a quite transparent replacement for shoutcast. It still is a little unstable. It's by no means unusable and has many advantages over the shoutcast server.

Genius is some of the statistical reporting, BSD support and a bunch of stuff that shoutcast forgot.

This does seem to be an active project for Jay, and I look forward to testing future revisions. If the stability problem was solved, I'd dump shoutcast in a heartbeat.

It seems like this is a pretty important project to Jay, just due to the work he's done.

no, choose the SHOUTcast source method. As stated it is transparent to Steamcast.

Just make sure you change SourceMount's name to something with an nsv extension so that icecast directories can list you.

SourceMount=/live.nsv

for example.

Also make sure that your admin user and pass are completely different from your SourceUser and SourcePass. Leave all other settings unchanged and it should work as you would expect it to work with SHOUTcast. In Nsvcap make sure the password for the SHOUTcast configuration is identical to SourcePass.

you misunderstand the purpose of that label. It is simply assuming the SHOUTcast Source Protocol. The label has no baring on whether it will work with other servers which utilize the same protocol.

select shoutcast and type in the steamcast address...

if youre running the webcam on the same computer as where steamcast is use localhost other wise put in a IP address or http:// link, fill in the port and password

and make sure the headers look something like this:

Code: Select all

put password here again
icy-name:SHRIKEE TV
icy-genre:Webcam
icy-pub:1
icy-br:100
icy-url:http://www.zerocom.ath.cx
icy-reset:1
thats all
