Radio Toolbox 2 alpha 1

Post by Jay »

Alright guys, first alpha of Radio Toolbox is being made available.

Things to note:
This is not production ready.
This is NOT production ready. (Just in case you missed it the first time)
Event notifications do not save when you exit the program.
There is no interface to your log profile here at Radio toolbox.
Graphing is buggy.

What I care most about knowing:
I need notes on usability. Things you might like to see work better. Before I finalize a few things I want to see what you think of the overall workflow. Please only report on crashes that you can repeat. Also I need to know what OS and .NET runtime you are using. If you cannot get it to run at all on a particular OS please tell me. Obviously the intended environment is .NET so if .NET cannot run on your OS then your OS is not supported. The target OS compatibility is XP and up but please let me know if you get it working on earlier OS's.

The alpha can be downloaded from
*removed, newer version available*

To install
Simply extract the zip file and then run setup.exe.

This will not be the final installer so this may need to be uninstalled from your system at some point.
So please do not count on locations or stability.

installing:
It knew enough to install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
required a reboot
once PC came back up, the install continued.

running:
adding my stations was simple enough, as long as it was done manually.
COPY/PASTE of a station's address caused RTB to crash..

Station details / Recently played .. very nice

PRO (so far): Nicer look...
CON (so far): where'd the GRAPH go?

Hiya @ all,

I've tried Jay's Alpha Version so far.

I'm using it on Windows 7 x64. I've did a compatibility test with XP on Win 7 too.

Experienced the same issues as gdradio.

I really appreciate the possibilty to load shoutcast *.pls to every station. That's helps a loooot!
Also I like the "Details" option on "Statio View" under Tools/Option. It should be configured with it after Installation.
Player option is great too.

For production release there should be a log service and others options unter "View" as in the V1.1.1.

Thank you for this great Alpha version so far. Keep up the good work!

Best regards

GDRadio where was the copy/paste done? You must copy and paste into a Station Tab, not on the stations list. I'll check the code and maybe modify some of the ways that copy/paste works. This is indeed very much an alpha and it does have some functions that end in a crash. Graphing is still being worked on but the components are there.

This is just a work flow analysis. All the features you were used to in v1 will return in v2. Any comments on how I can make the GUI more friendly are extremely welcome as that end of development is coming to a close on this iteration.

On a side note I am really considering my options taking Radio Toolbox to a new level. We will see :)

CopyPaste attempt was at the IP:PORT section ... but no, I didn't paste it into the TAB.
sidebar: I appreciate the work you are putting into this.

Hi Jay,

would you please be so kind to post the UA of this Version? Would like to ban it.
I told (a while ago) that steamcast works unstable (bufferig, changing bitrate when it is monitored whith RTB (192Kbit configured in SC-Trans, steamcast "flaps" between 192 and 500+ Kbit) . I don't know
why, and if there are other users with this issue. I tired to monitor our servers with Nagios and
mentioned that there is the same behavior after a while of monitoring.

I didn't find the alpha of RTB in our logfiles, but maybe i used the wrong UA.

Thanks
Nightfly

About to release a new test version. Been chasing down a memory leak for the last few weeks but will go ahead and release something for testing.

What is the error you receive on 1.1.1?

beside showing my info it was only showing a missing image
on the alpha most time i click something the app get stock for awhile then back to normal
and i don’t get the listeners count and i did add 2 servers one showing up the tracks
the other one not showing them but maybe something todo with privacy maybe on the server
I’m on XP thru VMware on Mac OS X.7 (Lion) .NET 4
