Foobar2000 & Edcast-DSP

Post by BalticSeaRadio »

Hi all, i'm a newbie on Steamer and caught a problem when connecting to steamer:

Problem: Edcast-DSP for Foobar2000 doesn't connect to Steamcast propperly.
Error Message (when using Icecast2-parameters in configuration)
*No Source*

If using Winamp with Edcast-DSP = same result

If using Winamp with Shoutcast-DSP (switched to V1 mode) = working propperly..

If using Winamp with Shoutcast-DSP V2 = Error message *Wrong password*

Notice:
Foobar2000 with Edcast-DSP connects to Icecast Server & icecast.org (direct connection) propperly, including
title streaming (icecast2-mode).

Configuration:

OS: Win 7 / x64, 2 x 3.4 Ghz, 4 Gbytes memory
player: Foobar2000 V 1.2.9 (x86)
Winamp 5.65 (x86)

DSP: Edcast V 3.1.2 - Foobar2000
Edcast V 3.1.2 - Winamp
Shoutcast V2 (switched down to V1) - Winamp

Ports are open and free. Firewall doesn't block.

Need help for Foobar-Edcast configuration.

Thanks a lot.

Odd that it gives you a "No Source" error. Can you send over your Steamcast config as well as a screen shot of your edcast config.

Steamcast should work with any Icecast v2 source out of the box however user management in Steamcast is a little different. You might try using your admin credentials to see if it works.

Steamcast will absolutely never work with SHOUTcast v2 protocol as that is Ultravox and a completely over complicated protocol to do what more standardized protocols do well.

Thanks for your answer Jay

The problem is solved.

Config:
Foobar + Edcast ----> Steamcast
Steamcast gave the message *No Source*.
Reason:
Edcast has no field to enter the name of *SourceUser#". It doesn't work either when using Admin credentials.

Solution:
On Icecast.org ---> 3rd party apps a player is listed, called MIXXX (http://mixxx.org)
This player uses LIBSHOUT (as Ices do).

Mixxx-player (Libshout) ---> Steamcast. Works great.

But its hard to get used to the handling of this player. (laughing).
I suppose I must look for a substitute for Edcast ......

In addition some informations:

When looking for a substitute for Edcast-Dsp for Foobar i found this:

EDCAST-REBORN: http://code.google.com/p/edcast-reborn/

The devolper told he's working on a new Edcast-dsp for Foobar.
Stand Alone and Winamp-dsp are available in Beta Versions.

When surfing through several foobar-forums i found a lot of people having the same or similar problems running the latest Foobar-version with Edcast-dsp.
So, there is nothing left than being patient....
