I really don't understand what Steamcast wants.... does anyone know what the error

"<04/21/2008@13:23:38> [serv] Client Thread Worker Creation Error: Cannot allocate memory" (which i also get for Source) means and how to solve it? I can't connect to the server, neither as client, nor dj

That means that Steamcast cannot allocate memory to create new logic threads. Which build did you download and on what OS are you running it on?
