Directory Clustering.
In attempt to help out those who rely on the Shoutcast YP regarding clustering we have put together some YP directory support.
Please be aware unless you understand the changes you need to make you should ignore this post and wait for the Shoutcast YP to be fixed. We do not support any changes you make to your own computer/server setup. They are relatively simple however due to the various SLA's provided by service providers you may be in breach changing them, so please check before doing so.
if you run *nix hosts and have access to do so, add the following into
/etc/hosts
87.117.193.145 yp.shoutcast.com
in your Shoutcast configuration file make Yport
Yport=12000
On a windows box search for the hosts file on my machine it is
c:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc
adding the line
87.117.193.145 yp.shoutcast.com
in your Shoutcast configuration file make Yport
Yport=12000
You should see 'YP added successfully' message. You will NOT get a visit from any tester etc, so if you are behind a firewall etc it will not notice.
All clustering should work , ie. backup servers etc, and your station is published into http://directory.streamsolutions.co.uk/
Although the clustering does work at the Shoutcast server level, multiple entries will be seen on the website directory listing. We are working on changing this, however for now it will stay as it is.
We do welcome comments from those who want/found it useful as this is still in the testing phase.
this can be discussed here also.
