Steamcast Crashes when streaming from visonair ogg streamer

Post by madikonda »

using the latest win32 release, operation under win2003 server, still using the default config file.

When streaming using nsv source tools, the server is online, but a lot of skipping and buffering in the client.

But

When using visonair ogg streamer, steamcast simply dies, no log entries as well when this happens.

to recreate the server crash:

1) install win32 port of steamcast
2) download and install visonair ogg streamer from dir.visonair.tv and then install
3) configure the streamer application to send to your steamcast server.
4) start capturing on your streamer.
5) watch the server die and your windows2003 server report that steamcast has crashed.

the streamer application when used with icecast server, does work very well.

I assume this is using theora?

Theora has never been tested to run under steamcast, I'll check with it later.

As far as buffering in NSV, what bitrate is the stream running at?

Yes, the streamer application only uses theora+vorbis in the ogg format.

In NSV tools, i am using 90 bitrate using vp62, whne the buffering and skipping happens.. Please note, that this happens in the local lan network as well, where bandwidth is not an issue. Pc is a 2 Ghz +1gb ram.

when using NSV i get about 20 -25 % cpu usage , with only nsv running.

on the other hand ogg streamer takes up 49 % cpu when streaming to an icecast server.
