On Air talking? while streaming?

Post by hersch »

Can it be done simply? Or at least explained so I can understand?

Let me back up, we've been broadcasting for a few weeks (we've been pretty successful, with broadcasts 3 days a week, and our average has been rising by about 5 everyshow) and we're up to 25 listeners. But we need to take the next step to a full station and add on air personality. Is there a simple way to broadcast our DJ's voices on air? and if so, how? and is there a software that makes it easier? or sound better? :)

Thanks!

You'll need a file that does "Line Recording" they are hard to come by but they are out there. What this does it put a file in your winamp that streams off your microphone and lets you then talk on air.

nah that's an outdated method, the DSP plugin now has soundcard input capabilities.

Just set your DSP plugin's input method to "Soundcard Input". You'll have to play around with your Windows Playback/Recording mixer a bit to get the perfect mix of voice and background music. If you just want voice, set it to soundcard input and bring the BG music meter all the way down to -inf dB so you can't hear it.

But, if you want BG music, you'll have to select "Wave Out Input" or "What U Hear" as the Recording device. Set What U Hear to 25% up the meter and you'll have great sounding BG music.
